Broadcaster:
Cam Gutekunst
Experience Highlighting Portfolio
My goal is to be the best broadcaster I can possibly be. I have a heavily rooted sports based portfolio but am willing to take any avenue the broadcasting industry presents. Take a look around and get a chance to meet and understand who I truly am as an individual, teammate, and broadcaster.
Recent Experience
Battle Creek Bombers
During the 2018 summer, I had the opportunity of a lifetime to work in the Northwoods League as a play-by-play broadcaster. This internship allowed me to go on the call for 72 games in 76 days. Traveling around the Midwestern United States, writing articles for the team's website and the Battle Creek Enquirer, as well as recording post-game radio wraps for 95.3 WBCK were just a few of my many experiences with the Bombers.
Sports Central
Sports Central is an award-winning student-produced television show that mimics ESPN's SportsCenter. I joined the crew in 2017 as their Head Analyst and worked my way up to the show's Head Anchor/Host within a year. Sports Central gave me the opportunity to report on sports that ranged from a local youth level as well as CMU club and varsity sports and professional level athletics. I gained on-air experience, news writing experience, editing knowledge, and production opportunities from my two years with the SC team.
Chippewa Sports Network
The Chippewa Sports Network is the go-to media outlet for all things Central Michigan athletics. CSN is unique in the aspect that they release their own original content, while also providing students the opportunity to produce ESPN3 and ESPN+ broadcasts. CSN really allowed me to try a bit of everything whether it was camera operating, directing, video board, editing highlights, or going on-air as a play-by-play or color commentator.
Testimonials
What My Network Thinks of Me:
"He is a leader on our crew, and someone we can always count on. He balances classwork, a leadership role in a fraternity, and working on our crew as well as other co-curricular activities very well. He is a self-starter and is very diligent with his preparation. He prepares well and we can always count on him to be ready to go when needed."
Matt Kearney
Assistant Director of Multimedia for CMU
"When given the toughest tasks, Camrin takes care of it in a proficient and well thought out manner. He is very passionate about everything he is a part of and is one of the hardest working kids I know. He is someone you can rely on when projects need to be completed. If I started a company and had to pick someone to lead a company with, Camrin would be my go-to guy. Camrin is a valuable asset and will succeed at any company he becomes apart of."
